construction documentation system records an instance that has been flagged as a potential problem or documents known areas of concern that have historically been proven to cause problems. This approach, however, relies on the proper identification of the problem before the established documentation procedures take over.

By aiming for comprehensive coverage, Construction Verification records the timing and condition all significant operations. During the Verification process, we encourage our CVT’s to question anything he or she sees that appears to go against accepted standards as defined by industry or project-specific standards.
In the case pictured about. Even though the penetrations of flexible water lines through metal decking had not been previously identified as a potential problem are. CVT David Day’s instincts told him that a flexible tube should probably have some type of protection from the sharp edges of the deck. Dave flagged this photo for review by the contractor, who will then pursue a corrective action with plumbing contractor.
The contractor will not only be able to correct the instance shown here. But he can search his database for all such instances and assess the extent of the problem. All existing penetrations such as this will be corrected and the plumber will be alerted to prevent future occurrences.

Some unknown condo owner, will have Dave to thank for the leak in his bathroom that doesn’t materialize in 5 or 10 years. Problem preempted.
